A New Day

I love early mornings when it feels like the rest of the world is still fast asleep and you’re the only one who’s awake & everything feels like it isn’t really real & you kind of forget about all your problems because for now its just you, the world & the sunshine.

At around 5:30 a.m. this morning, the sky was still pitch black but I got myself out of bed and ready to begin my day.

Now, for anyone who knows me you know this is VERY out of character for me (I'm usually asleep well through breakfast and wake up just in time for lunch!) so, I must have had a reason to interrupt my sleep and depart from my "oh so" comfy bed.

Last night at around 12:00a.m. Jake asked me if I would be interested in going to Long Beach to see the sunrise. At this point, I wasn't home and would get a maximum 4 1/2 hours of sleep if I decided this was something I wanted to do. No surprise though that plans would be last minute. It's also no surprise that I said I was totally in.! Well guys, it was so worth it!

Jake picked me up, we stopped to some hot chocolate and drove over to Long Beach. Even with our tired morning selves we made it in time to see the sun rise over the beach and it was the perfect day for it. The waves were calm and such a vibrant yet soothing tone of blue. When we first arrived the sky was still in its pastel phase which added to the quiet atmosphere of the board walk. Once the sun started to rise over the jetties the sky turned a vibrant orange which illuminated the ocean water. I had never been to the beach for a sunrise before this and I can most definitely say that it was an experience that I needed. Being up at such a quiet time of the day, especially by the beach where people seemed to be untroubled, and being surrounded by such fiery colors, invented a place where you could be excited but still relaxed. If I could wake up to a sunrise on the beach everyday I would take it in a heartbeat.
